bike surveillance system

This cant be right spying on individual bikers!!!

We need a pettition to send to the government or a road block of bikes to stop it now! This will be the thin end of a wedge!

would imagine there is already the same policy in place for car users, the public would not be aware as it will obviously not be widely publicised. i do agree that if you ride within the law there is nothing whatsoever to worry about.
in saying that i reckon that on closer inspection if the scheme is introduced there is probably a breach of human rights here somewhere so if there is to be a campaign this would be the avenue to go down.

Did anyone go on the Welsh ride out reclaim north wales? Everyone riding a motorbike even when fully legal were stopped for no reason.
This is the same thing were motorbikes are being targeted, even if you ride fully legally. Your details of where you have been, where you come from and where you are going are being recorded, why?, and why not wagons and cars.
With all that information what are they going to do with it, and how will it make the road your travelling on safer? I'm all for making roads safer and introducing speed limits and enforcing them. So why don't they spend the money on repairing roads fitting motorcycle safe barriers that don't cut you in half when you hit them?
I personally think there is another motive behind this and to spend thousands of pounds on it to collect all that info and not use it does not in my book add up.
If you haven't read the link here is an extract

The technology can tell motorcycles apart from other vehicles, measure
their speeds and will be able to read number plates under plans. Data
such as the routes taken by individual motorcyclists along with time
and date will be collected and kept even if they have committed no
offence.
Surely that's breaching human rights!

Users of CCTV systems by private or public bodies may also be subject to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA). The DPA covers information that relates to an individual. Until recently, the DPA was thought to cover most CCTV use as it related to individuals who were captured on camera. However, a recent Court of Appeal case has shown that the scope of the DPA is far narrower than was previously thought. It is now clear that only certain CCTV activities are covered. The court decided that for information to relate to an individual, it had to affect their privacy. To help judge this, the court decided that two matters were important: (1) a person had to be the focus of the information and (2) the information must tell you something significant about them. Whether or not the DPA covers a CCTV system thus depends on how it is used. If a particular person is intended to be the focus of CCTV and the information from the CCTV tells one something significant about that person, the data from the CCTV are likely to be covered by the DPA and the operator’s use of CCTV must comply with the provisions of the DPA.

Basic CCTV systems, such as those in a shop for security purposes, are now unlikely to be covered provided that the operator is not using the images for checking on staff. If, however, the CCTV is used remotely to zoom in on people, or for monitoring particular individuals, or the film recorded is used for anything other than for providing to law enforcement bodies, then the CCTV is likely to be covered by the DPA. The Information Commissioner has issued additional CCTV guidance in light of the Court of Appeal case.

I think from reading the above what has been said about the scheme proves it breaches Human rights under the data protection act.
I have been in touch with LIBERTY International, MCN and intend lobbying my local MP regarding this scheme.
Please help by spreading the word.
I will also be printing flyers and posting them at bikers venues.
