The Thundersprint Bike Show - 8th-9th May 2010
Meeting at 9am at TMC Bromborough - Map here: http://www.mildhogs.co.uk/maps.html
Location:Northwich Town Centre
Sunday May 9:
06.15 - The Thundersprint opens for participants and spectators. The paddock area is strictly reserved for participant parking simply because we are desperately short of space. However, if you come early as a spectator, you can park literally a few yards from the paddock or the track - and parking is free in Cheshire West and Chester controlled parking areas!
06.15 - Technical inspection begins. Spectators are very welcome if you want to see the riders and their bikes close up.
08.00 - Trade stands open for business. Northwich traders are open all day.
08.00 - Mother and baby area open inside the Salvation Army Church. Free refreshments for parents servicing their babies and a helping hand from trained Salvation Army volunteers if you need it.
The Mother and baby area is open all day and is designed to allow feeding to take place in a calm and quiet area and afterwards, give Mum a break with a free cup of coffee and some biscuits before re-joining the excitement.
08.15 - Last entry for vehicles to central show area. Parking is free for spectators but if you want to park very near to the paddock you need to be on site before 08.00. After this time, there is still miles of parking available elsewhere in Northwich - and it's all free in Cheshire West and Chester controlled parking areas!
08.20 - Photo session for star riders on start line
08.30 - Practice runs begin
09.00 - Funfair and children's inflatable fun area open
10.00 - Music and entertainment begins in Adelaide Gardens, opposite Marks and Spencer's store. Free admission. This is a largely fenced off grass area and is ideal for family picnics.
11.30 - Practice runs conclude
11.30 - Cavalcade gathers outside the race paddock near Cumberland Street car park.
11.45 - Cavalcade prepares to leave
12.00 - 12.20 - Cavalcade. Note this route is only provisional at the moment and could be subject to change by Cheshire Police. We have a very good relationship with Cheshire Police and we are confident that this will be the route unless something really major interferes.
Please remember that this year the Cavalcade will be three laps of Northwich. Please do not attempt to cross the roads until AFTER the third lap.
The cavalcade route is:
1) Leave the “Thundersprint” site from the collecting box immediately adjacent to the paddock in Cumberland Street car park. This is near to Halford's store at the opposite end of the Thundersprint site to Marks and Spencer's store.
The “warming up” area is fenced and the bikes and riders can be seen close up.
2) Head for the island at the start of Chester Way and turn right, heading downhill along Chester Way past the Courts.
3) Turn left at the main traffic lights in front of Cheshire County Council's buildings, opposite the Seafarer restaurant
4) Turn right at the next set of traffic lights, in front of J&S Accessories
5) Turn right at the next set of traffic lights in front of the "Bull Ring".
6) Return up Chester Way past Northwich Police Station to the island and then start second lap
7) After the conclusion of the third lap, turn left at Chester Way island and return to the Thundersprint site.
There is excellent viewing along the whole of the route but the area from Northwich Police Station towards the "Seafarer" restaurant is particularly good because the bikes will be slowing down to turn left and then accelerating towards J&S Accessories.
The Cavalcade will be proceeding slowly but please take great care along the whole viewing area since there will be 200 bikes in action- mainly race machines - and this is a big convoy.
Parents, little ones get very excited with the spectacle so please keep a tight hold on your children.
Please remember that this year the Cavalcade will do three laps of Northwich. Please do not attempt to cross the roads until AFTER the third lap.
Many thanks for the superb escort and support provided by Cheshire Police - who could not be more helpful and without whose assistance there would not be a Cavalcade.
12.20 - 13.00 - Lunch break - but don't forget that many of the shops in Northwich are open and all the Thundersprint trade stands will be there to welcome you with open arms!
All the rest of the Thundersprint attractions remain open throughout the lunch-break - including the street entertainment.
12.20 - 13.20 - "Radio Thundersprint" with Garry Gardiner - The Voice of the Thundersprint. Interviews with stars and personalities at the track side. Garry is the most entertaining commentator in motorsport and his interviews alone are a good enough reason for coming to the Thundersprint
13.20 - 13.25 - The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire aerobatic display. Absolutely unmissable!
13.25 - 13.27 - Blessing by Captain Imogen Stuart of the Salvation Army
13.28 - 13.30 - National Anthem
13.30 - 13.35 - Lap of Honour around the Thundersprint track with Jim Redman, Sammy Miller, Chris Walker and Steve Parrish.
13.40 - The Thundersprint
17.00 - Thundersprint concludes
17.30 - Prize giving in the paddock. Free Admission. Spectators welcome.18.01 - Preparations begin for Thundersprint 2011 - Northwich Town Centre. Be there!!!!
